Dr. Pani Farvid - Social Psychology Expert

Dr. Pani Farvid has a PhD in Psychology and is a senior lecturer at AUT University in Auckland.

Pani has a spot as the resident psychological commentator on Radio Live with Mark Sainsbury, appears regularly on The AM show,  Radio New Zealand and The Spinoff, and has featured in numerous press articles.

Her academic research examines the intersection of gender, sexuality, power, culture, technology and identity. Pani focuses on the dynamics of heterosexual relationships, with the aim of promoting egalitarianism within heterosexuality.  She has also done extensive research on casual sex, popular culture & sexuality, online dating, Tinder & mobile dating apps, and has published widely in these areas.

Born in Tehran, Pani and her family immigrated to New Zealand when she was ten years old. Pani says "I am excited to be a part of this social experiment which deals with the most interesting and fundamental aspects of our daily lives - love, intimacy and commitment.

Tony Jones - Relationship Counsellor

If Pani is the head then Tony Jones is the heart when it comes to matching the couples. Tony is a qualified and experienced counsellor who has been supporting individuals, couples and families for more than 12 years.

Tony will be focussing more on the personal side of things, looking at personality types, core values, beliefs, common goals and relationship experience.  He will be looking for singles that know who they are, what they are bringing to the table and finding the commonality between them.  Most importantly he will be looking at how each person can positively extend the other.

Tony is a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors and a fully registered teacher with the New Zealand Teachers Council.  He has a Master of Education, with first class honours, PG Diploma in Education with Distinction (Counselling) and a BSc (Hons).

Although he is an experienced counsellor, he is also passionate about working with children and adolescents.  He runs his private counselling practice north of Auckland.

Tony says, "In a nutshell psychologists the brains and counsellors are the heart, but if you combine the two it gives massive kudos to the process."
