Warriors great Manu Vatuvei trades rugby balls for ballroom moves in this season’s Dancing with the Stars.

The rugby league legend is no stranger to working up a sweat in front of watching crowds, having spent 15 years playing NRL, during which time he became the Warriors top try scorer and earned the formidable nickname as “The Beast”. Recently Manu, who is of Tongan descent, played in England for the Salford Red Devils.

Last year, Manu added another highlight to his knockout sporting career, making his proboxing debut and coming out victorious after a mere 28 seconds in the ring.

But now, the gloves are off, and the dancing shoes are on! On joining the hit dancing competition, the former Warriors winger says: "I've been known to do a bit of a quick step on the field so I hope that translates into some fancy footwork on the dance floor. When I first got fitted for my latin shoes and saw they had quite high heels I did have a 'what have I got myself into?' moment, but it's for a good cause and it will give the boys a laugh!"

Manu currently lives in East Auckland with his wife of 9 years Jenny and his four biggest fans - their daughters Makayla (12), Savanah (8), Eva (5) and Aaliyah (3).

If his triumphs on the field are anything to go by, the sports superstar stands a fighting chance of getting his hands on the coveted glitterball trophy.
