Newshub Live at 6pm anchor Mike McRoberts will be trading in the newsdesk for the dancefloor in 2019 when he joins what will no doubt be a star-studded lineup on Three's Dancing with the Stars NZ 2019.
“Some of the best things I’ve done in my life have seemed at the time like insurmountable challenges; reporting from conflicts around the globe, or some the of the world’s biggest natural disasters. Or even running marathons and competing in multi-sport events. Dancing with the Stars feels like one of those challenges - but perhaps with a slightly more glamorous wardrobe.”
The proud Cantabrian has been fronting Three's nightly news alongside co-anchor and this year's DWTS winner Samantha Hayes for 14 years. His recent work saw him covering the US midterm elections from New York.
The veteran broadcaster has over 30 years of experience and recently won Best Presenter: News and Current Affairs at the Huawei Mate20 New Zealand Television Awards 2018 for the second consecutive year.
When he's not running marathons or covering the world's breaking news, the staunch Crusaders fan enjoys a good book, a splash of vino and spending time with his two children.
Mike is also a UNICEF ambassador and travelled with them to Syria in 2017, cementing himself as the first Kiwi journalist affiliated with a NZ news organisation to report from there since the war began.
