Tony Jones - Relationship Counsellor

LOOK WHO’S BACK:

Relationship expert Tony Jones returns to Married At First Sight NZ for a second season.

An experienced and qualified counsellor, with over 14 years in the business, Tony’s focus continues to be the personal side of things when matching our singles this season. Personality types, core values, beliefs, shared goals and relationship experience remain the touchstones of the matching process . In order to find singles with commonality who will be a genuine fit, Tony insists they will need to be clear and confident in what they have to offer and be prepared to be their authentic selves, despite the unique circumstances of being on reality TV.

Tony says: “What we’ve learned from last year is that those who are prepared to really commit to the experiment, and are up front and honest about who they are, warts and all, have very different journeys.  The singles need to be open minded and prepared to grow as individuals and as a couple.”

Until recently Tony ran his own private counselling practice north of Auckland, but is currently taking a short sabbatical in the UK with his wife Kirsty and children Luca (6) and Finn (10 months) . Tony is enjoying spending quality time with family and friends and travelling extensively. A keen sportsman, he has his sights on some trail running events over the winter months.

Tony is a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors and a fully registered teacher with the New Zealand Teachers Council. He has a Masters of Education, with first class honours, PG Diploma in Education with Distinction (Counselling) and a BSc (Hons).

Although he is an experienced relationship counsellor, he is also passionate about working with children and adolescents.
